From what I understand his defense is terrible and he blamed his FT shooting troubles from last year on a shoulder injury and has tried to rework his shot which hasn't gone well either. So if you can't defend and your shooting is gone seems like it would be hard to start you the first game of the season.

Because he's coming off the bench?

whether or not he starts as a rookie is unimportant. you need a leader at the PG position and Fultz had no leadership qualities in college so he certainly isnt ready to lead the point in the NBA. I never thought he was worthy of the 1st pick. he's a stats guy who was a flat out loser at the college level

No player in college would have carried that sorry a** team to a winning record.

It's Danny ainge. You'd think teams would have learned to stop trading with us by now lol.

Danny Ainge has won just one championship despite having been a GM for like 15 freaking years.

Trust me, nobody is scared of him. Mitch Kupchak has a better freaking resume than Ainge.

Not really fair considering the cap situation he inherited and the Kevin Garnett Injury.
He arguably wins 3 championships (or at least one more) if KG doesn't go down.

Is Sam Presti a terrible GM if he never wins a ship' with OKC?

You're a hater/troll plain and simple. Ainge is one of the best GM's in the NBA and anyone with any clue about the NBA knows this.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Yeah aside from the like 20 trades Ainge lost and the 20 draft picks that he busted on. None of these guys are gods or geniuses, just dudes making reasonable moves and then hoping for the best. Ainge's had a great run and deserves credit but the quickest way to make yourself look dumb on here is to pretend that any GM has the midas touch.

What trades has Ainge lost, the Nets, gettin Thomas for a late first, getting Crowder and a first for Rondo, getting what looks like another high lottery pick from trading down from Fultz to Tatum? And the twenty draft picks that have busted? It's weird when you ask people to list them it's all guys drafted at the end of the first like RJ Hunter or Fab Melo, which teams do tend to mis on, especially when you have a GM that's been with a team for more than a century. How does that compare to missing on lottery picks like Okafor, MCW, Turner, or Noel(which I don't think is a bust but the return they got for him makes it seem that way).

Dude said "GM that's been with a team for more than a century." Define century PatsFan lmao

No need to fish after reasons. He's a rookie and needs adjustment time that he didn't get due to injury, and the Sixers want to win from the first game. They don't really need anything that Fultz does--Embiid, Saric, and Simmons can create all day and the other starters are good shooters--and Bayless is a competent vet who can play next to Simmons well. He doesn't stink on defense or anything else that makes him seem like a bad pick.

It's not at all unusual to have top picks not start if he's on a team trying to win, and it's not a sign that the player's not good or has deep flaws. Lots of all stars taken in the top end of the lotto started off as reserves (just recently, think of Harden, Favors, Love, Beal, Hayward, etc).

Point was that the three of them can handle primary initiating, and that's not a controversial or arguable statement. But Saric is a pretty steady (if ugly) post player and driver. That's not going out on a limb either--it's just how he plays the game. How exactly do you think he averaged 18/9/3 per 36 as a rookie last year?

Brett Brown:

“He hasn’t played much basketball in the preseason,” Brown said. “He’s been out for a while. He hasn’t been with our group. … Do you put him into the fire right away and have him play against starting NBA defensive players? Especially with the little foundation that he has, I don’t think that’s smart.”
