How do you figure he deserved the 2016 contest let alone this one? Lavine destroyed Gordon's jump the mascot lack of creativity that year with both creative dunks with difficulty and skill in doing so.
Whether they should have tied initially in this year's or not, he failed to make the leap over Tacko. Insane that he tried, but it failed. Not only hit Tackos head but Tacko had to bend his head completely down to allow him over. The funny part is he had no other dunk to do, so someone probably suggested Tacko to him. Credit him with actually trying, I will. But his junping over people thing is old news. Didn't Glen Robinson III jump over two people, one piggy backing another in the recent past? Blake Griffen dunked over a car like a decade ago.
Gordon needs to show some skill and creativity or he may never win. At least practice a few different types, show you actually put some time into preparing.

I never said he deserved them. I said the wins WOULD'VE been the highlight of his career. MAybe need to read my post more carefully.
DJJ jumped over Chance. Gordon jumped over Tacko.
All things considered, including teabagging Tacko, I think Gordon had the better dunks overall.
DJJ did a bunch of through the legs dunks, so it's hard to dock Gordon marks for jumping over guys/lack of creativity.
Lavine did 3 free throw line dunks - admittedly they were very impressive still. Him vs. Gordon was still the best dunk contest for me, and it's a toss up who should've won.

I see your point here about this post being more about the highlights of his career. I suppose I was focusing more on your other posts that were along with this in the thread and those posting with you on how "robbed" he has been.
I think Gordon is one of the few players that brings actual skilled and creative dunks to the real games, in the moment. Which is what bothers me so badly about his dunk contests riddled with jumping over people holding the ball for him. These are garbage jump tricks to me. Until he starts jumping over players heads in games while dunking I suppose.
DJJ had more technical aspects within most of his dunks. Gordon missed at least two first dunks and had to repeat, then got all 10s on this followup dunks regardless. I might have missed it, but did DJJ miss a dunk just once? Then you had Pat Connaughton going the extra mile on jumping over people to actually touch the backboard before dunking. Dunks like Pat's being so much more technically difficult should have knocked some tens off of anybodies dunks over people from then on. Gordon should have had to match that extra difficulty or fail to reach tens if jumping over people.
I credit both LaVine and Gordon for dunking with a little style in games. Choosing to do so when they get a chance, sometimes even within the mosh pit of players directly around them. I remember that's how Jordan would do it. Taking some pride in that ability during games. So many players that can never do in a game. If 6-5 Pat can do it in a game, we should still be seeing them more often from more players. I still like this part of the game and feel it's the most sure way to complete a possession.
