Bob Myers Putting Warriors In Position To Acquire Franchise Centerpiece

Bob Myers wants the Golden State Warriors to be prepared when a franchise-caliber player becomes available.

"There's going to be a moment in time when you have a chance to acquire that player," Myers said. "Is your roster and your franchise situation set up for that one moment in time? What we cannot have happen is that when the moment comes, we're not ready."

The Warriors could be in position to add a max-salary player -- via offer sheet or sign-and-trade -- during the summer of 2014.

"We want to have a seat at that table," Myers said. "It's sort of like the party's been going on, and we're not getting an invitation to the table. We want to be in position to not just get that invitation but be able to make our presentation at the party."

"The Warriors' sales pitch won't be a slam dunk. Myers must somehow make the Bay Area as sexy a destination as Los Angeles or New York or Miami."

I've been to all of those places and I would much rather live in the Bay Area. I can understand wanting NY if you are a big city type, which I'm not. I'm not sure who prefers LA or Miami.

Me too. The Bay Area can be an awesome place to live, and once the new area is up and the team has a couple of years with a good record free agents will be interested in signing. maybe even a franchise centerpiece... like Andre Drummond!
