Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak says that Kobe Bryant's desire to return to the floor by the first game of the 2013-14 season is "a reasonable goal."
Bryant had surgery on Saturday afternoon to repair the torn Achilles tendon in his left leg and is expected to need six-to-nine months for recovery.
He will be immobilized for at least a month.
