The Houston Rockets would be interested in hiring Stan Van Gundy if Kevin McHale steps down in the offseason, according to sources.

McHale is unlikely to leave the Rockets.

The Rockets will pursue Dwight Howard in free agency and sources say he has a newfound respect for Van Gundy after a challenging season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The article implies that someone in the Rockets management 'leaked' this information for the benefit of Howard. Maybe they are trying to push McHale out the door, after an amazing job he has done with this team. Morey is not a very ethical person.

So I'm guessing they are no longer interested in pursuing Dwight... Says one of two things: either they are happy with Asik or it's now league-wide knowledge that Dwight is a Laker for the next five years..

EDIT: Does Dwight REALLY want to play for Stan again? If that's true, then I see it a more a possibility that now that Brown is a Cav and no longer the Lakers problem, that they fire D'Antoni and hire SVG. All Dwight has to do is snap his fingers and it's done.

The article does not imply either of those two things.

Everybody knows the Rockets want Dwight Howard. The article simply states that the Rockets would be interested in Van-Gundy just like Dwight apparently is. This is fairly self explanatory isn't it? Make Dwight happy and make Houston more appealing for him (not that he wouldn't come with McHale here) just as an added extra bit of input. Geesh.
