Sources: Timberwolves To Replace Kahn With Saunders

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:04 pm

Flip Saunders is expected to replace David Kahn as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ head of basketball operations.

Saunders has been negotiating a deal that could run through the 2017-18 season, according to sources who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the hiring.

The hiring of Saunders would end David Kahn’s tenure as general manager of the Timberwolves.

Kahn’s deal includes a team option for 2013-14 that will not be exercised.

Am I reading this correctly? Flip Saunders was not good enough (fired) as their coach, but is worthy to be the guy in charge of all basketball operations for the team. I find this very strange.

There's no correlation between the Coach's duties and those of the Team President/GM. I think Flip has been around long enough to build a legit roster. I'd like to see OJ Mayo or JR Smith go to Minny. All they need is a solid 2
