what's wrong with this picture?

oh, right. the fact that there are only 60 draft spots, but 77 guys in this category alone who choose not to take advantage of more education and/or seasoning.

only 40 or so of these guys are even draft-ready. and by draft-ready, i mean, ready to be drafted and NOT make an NBA opening day roster.

i'm all for kids coming out early and getting that paper when they're ready. but only a handful of these names fit into that category.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

is it worth the risk when you're an underclassman barely on the board... whose draft stock could lock into first round money if you hang around even one more year?

it's definitely a case-by-case decision, but look at those names. most are the next generation of d-leaguers. a handful of those would probably benefit from expanded roles and shine in the NCAA next year.

let alone a desire to learn something. which, you're right, most of them don't have. that's the biggest shame.

Its early entry, meaning they are just testing the waters right now. I'd imagine at least 10 or so go back to school after finding out that they either aren't draft material right now, or are much lower projected than they hoped.

As for the international players, not all of them are HSers. They file as 'early entry' because they aren't automatically entered into the draft. I believe the automatic entry age is 22, so these Euros are 21 or younger.

But the big point is that they have more than 1.5 months to take their names out of the draft, and I bet a big chunk do. Happens every year
