Kendrick Perkins Finishes Playoffs With Worst PER On Record

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 16, 2013 4:21 pm

Kendrick Perkins finished the 2013 NBA Playoffs with a PER of -0.7, which is the worst on record for a player with 200 or more minutes.

Perkins had 24 turnovers, 24 points, 39 fouls, five blocks and a plus/minus of -40 in the playoffs.

Perkins was acquired by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2011 in a trade involving Jeff Green.

Scott Brooks played Perkins 23.3 minutes per game in the Conference Semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies despite clearly being ineffective.

Maybe Danny did trade him away from the C's at the right time. After tearing his MCL in Game 6 of the Finals, he hasn't been the same player - Defensively or Offensively. Below 50% for FG, and getting a lot fewer rebounds. This is totally on him, because he doesn't have a better rebounder next to him (Ibaka is No KG). His last three seasons with the C's were solid. About 60% FG shooting, while averaging 8 boards a game. He's always been more of a defensive specialist. He did a pretty solid job limiting D12's production in Orlando, as well as Bynum's, and Big Z's in Cleveland. He's never been a Beast of a scorer. It looked like a great deal for OKC, after Jeff Green had to miss a year with Heart surgery. But it looks like the tide has turned. Too bad. I like Perk, he's great for locker room synergy - but his skills are on the downside of the inverted U.
