Dwight Howard is considering signing with the Golden State Warriors as well as the previously reported Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks, a source close to the player said Thursday.

According to the source, Howard's main concern involves "what team he feels has the best chance to win championships, has the best team and system around him."

Howard can't officially sign with a team until July 10, when a moratorium on NBA business is lifted.

Thanks for that amazing piece of reporting. Howard wants to win titles and play with good players in a system that suits him... groundbreaking stuff.

No way LA takes Bogut in a S&T to move Big Baby Howard to Oakland. That's the only way the Dubbs can get him. Bogut is too injury prone and we can move on from this 'incredible' source.

There's pretty much a 0% chance he'll be there next season... but GS could be a great fit for D12. Young team, he can be the Anchor, the experienced defensive presence. He'd fit in with Jackson's Defensive mentality. On offense, they have so many young front court players that will attract the attention of the defense. Dwight will have plenty of chances to get the ball in the paint. They would just have to be unselfish, which is something they've shown they can be - During this year's playoffs. A team with Thompson and Barnes on the wing, Curry handling the ball, and Dwight down low... would just ravish any defensive scheme.

I think they'd have to trade Lee for this to work. I can't remember, did the Bogut trade happen before/after the new CBA. As in, can they amnesty Bogut?

Why doesn't he just sign with Orlando. They got all the right pieces.

I doubt LA trades him within the division, but we might be able to throw together the best offer for him. Playing with great shooters like Curry + Klay or Barnes would be a pretty good match for Dwight. I just hope Mark Jackson could reign in the prima donna and bring out the dominant C.

GSW wasted their amnesty on Charlie Bell like as soon as the provision came into place.

Even if they didn't, you can't amnesty players you traded for. Technically we can only amnesty Lee and/or Biedrins.

A trade around Bogut / Barnes or Klay / Brandon Rush would roughly = Dwight's salary while keeping us under the lux tax threshold.

Every positions has a promising player besides the PG positon but Nelson can still play and they can draft a rookie PG (Trey Burke?). Vucevic to PF and Howard to center.

Young but better role players than he had before.

Golden State just became good, why do they want to suck again so badly?

I am not buying any team outside of the Lakers and Rockets having a legit chance to sign him.

Warriors didn't put themselves financially in a position to get Howard...good luck trying to move Bogut and Lee in order to fit Howard.

#1.) Orlando has little shooting now that JJ Redick and Ryan Anderson were traded, and Hedo washed up. Its this spacing that allows him to utilize his athleticism in pnr play -- and grab extra rebounds and put backs when shots clank.

#2.) It was never really about "winning" in Orlando, his departure was more about business and endorsements, and wanting mass media market exposure.

We can clean house by giving the Warriors Nash too.

Bogut, Jefferson, Barnes and Thompson along w/ 2 1sts.

It would obviously be S&T. There are no realistic scenarios where we get under the cap enough to sign him

Thats slightly over what I'd consider as a W's fan. I know we'll have to pay a lot to get a deal done, but if Dwight were to want to come here, that means he'd be OK with signing for less money.

Which means he'd likely also be OK inking with Houston or Atlanta, or even Dallas. Which the Warriors could leverage into getting a slightly better deal. This one puts ALL our assets on the table. I'd be arguing to switch either Klay or Barnes with Ezeli or Dancing Bear, or taking Nash out of the equation entirely and changing him to Metta.

The pieces that I know fit: Bogut, our 14/16 1sts, and one of Klay/Barnes. Thats actually more than the Magic got for Dwight - they received a solid SG, a young but really questionable @ the time C in Vujevic, a mid 1st round pick, and expirings. Warriors are offering a solid (injured), expiring C, 1 of 2 very hyped prospects in Klay or Barnes, 2 1sts, and the ability to clear some salary as well.

One thing is for sure: Howard's value didnt go UP just because he became a Laker.
