Karron Johnson Interests NBA Teams As Upside Draft Pick

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 28, 2013 11:45 pm

Developing into the player scouts envisioned when he was a touted recruit of Oklahoma St., Karron Johnson is intriguing several teams as a prospect they could take a chance on in this year’s NBA draft, a source told RealGM.

A 6-foot-8 forward who spent the past two seasons at Shaw University, Johnson has scheduled workouts with seven teams that have let him know they will consider him as a potential second round pick.

Johnson, 23, has overcome issues surrounding his anger management. He averaged 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds and shot 44.7 percent from three-point range this season.

Johnson had been a heralded prospect before failing to stay at Oklahoma St., and he subsequently bounced from junior colleges to a stable situation at Shaw.

A major concern here that has not been highlighted is the fact that he was let go by Shaw University before their conference tournament season and subsequently competed abroad. He's extremely talented, but there are still character concerns. One of the best non-D1 prospects out there.
