Magic Prepared To Select Nerlens Noel At No. 2 If Cavaliers Pass

The Orlando Magic are prepared to select Nerlens Noel with the second overall pick if the Cleveland Cavaliers pass on him at No. 1.

The Cavaliers are reportedly undecided on whether to select Noel.

"If the draft was held today, Noel would be our first choice," one source from the Magic told ESPN. 

The Magic scouted Noel closely during the season and have been doing extensive background work on him over the past few months.

If Magic draft Noel, they probably make him sit out most if not all of the 2013/14 season so they can tank for wiggins. Magic already have a starting center in Vucevic, so Noel will probably get the back up minutes or he will slide to power forward and compete for minutes with tobias harris, andrew nicholson and glen davis. The Magic were the worst team last season, they are looking for anything to stay that way for at least two more years.

Smokescreen all the way. Just hoping to create a market for the pick. ORL is primarily looking backcourt, they want to flip Nelson and Afflalo and end up with a couple of kids manning those spots. Like Burke and Caldwell-Pope, just as an example. Or more likely, McLemore and Bledsoe.
