Chris Copeland Awaits Offer From Pacers, Not Ruling Out Return To Knicks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 3, 2013 3:50 am

After discussions with the Indiana Pacers since the start of free agency, free agent forward Chris Copeland hasn’t received a contract proposal from the organization and will continue talks on Wednesday, a league source told RealGM.

Copeland has been one of the most sought after wing players in free agency, and he has received multiple offers from other teams that he’ll consider and no frontrunner has emerged, sources said. The New York Knicks offered him a qualifying offer before the free agent process, and both sides know what terms of a contract would look like should Copeland return and the 29-year-old hasn’t ruled them out, a league source told RealGM.

Copeland exhibited flashes of scoring prowess when given minutes for the Knicks last season, averaging 8.7 points with two 30-point performances.

Copeland remained loyal to the Knicks for the opportunity the coaching staff provided him, after spending his professional career overseas.

Ah crap. Looks like the Raptors/Knicks deal was to replace Copeland.
Hope he resigns and works on his rebounding. For a team that has NO bench, as far as putting up points goes, Copeland, Watson, and Granger coming off the bench w/ Hansborough and Mahinmi would be reeeeally nice.
Peja, Iverson, CP3, T-Mac, Starks, Artest. Will never get over how the 01-02 Kings got cheated by the refs.

How are we getting three rotation players from Indiana?

Huh? I was naming Indiana's bench if they signed Copeland.

I don't think they're bringing Hansbrough back, but assuming they sign someone at a similar talent level, I definitely agree. No Granger and no bench took Miami to 7 games.
