Dwight Howard To Sign With Rockets After Informing Lakers Of Decision

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 6, 2013 2:43 am

Dwight Howard informed the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night that he will not return to the organization.

"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers," Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. "Naturally we're disappointed. However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great lakers fans will be proud to support.

"To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career."

Howard will now agree to a contract with the Houston Rockets, as first reported by USA Today, and he has already changed his Twitter picture to one of him in a Rockets jersey.

After so many years of success it looks like it's time for the Lakers to tank...it's probably the best year to do it. Poor Nash, hope he gets traded to a contender.

I think Dwight's hope is to eventually land in Brooklyn in 2016. In 2016, Brooklyn will have the cap room to offer him a max deal with all their contracts coming off the books. Durant is also a free agent that year as well as Deron Williams. Big 3 in the Big Apple coming soon.

Good spot for him. Now hopefully we see him get serious and play some ball.

04-05 season bud. Trading Shaq and letting Phil walk was part of the tank job. The problem was Kobe still played well so lakers weren't bad enough to draft a chris paul or deron williams.

The year is right but by you youngsters meaning of "tanking"....you guys imply losing on purpose. That year the Lakers were in the playoff hunt and at one point was 5th in the conference. They fell out of contention only after Rudy. T hit the bottle again.

Like I said go look it up to see where it was done on purpose?

Why would Durant want to play with Deron over Russell Westbrook? Lol...

Dwight is eyeing Brooklyn in 2016. Had he gone to golden state he would have left the team in three years before they move to san francisco in 2017. Just watch, there would be less backlash if he left Houston for Brooklyn than if he left GS, LA or anywhere else.

ROFL, hearing these lakers fans and LA media thinking that they will land 1 or more of Bosh, Wade, Lebron or Melo in 2014. I don't see the heat breaking up next year after winning two titles. Lebron will probabaly do what cp3 did this year and commit to the heat on the first day of next year's free agency without meeting any other teams. I think Lebron has learned and grown a lot from the circus that was the Decision. And Honestly do the Lakers think Melo will leave the glamour of new york and his own extra 30 million in a fifth year to come play for d'antoni again in LA. When Amare, Chandler and Bargnani's contracts come off the books in 2015, knicks will have enough cap room to give Melo a max deal while being able to chase 1 or more of the 2015 free agents like Lamarcus Aldridge, kevin Love, Marc Gasol or Rajon Rondo. The money those players would have to give up in a fifth year would easily be replaced by the marketing potential and vast endorsements they would receive playing in NYC - the biggest media and sports market in the usa

Deron when healthy is just as good as westbrook. Also Deron doesn't look to average 20 ppg like westbrook and would actually get Durant the ball more often.

Lol.

Watch OKC basketball before you comment. Without Westbrook scoring, we crumble. Its his role on our team. Westbrook is vastly better than Deron ever has, or will be :/
