Nuggets To Acquire Randy Foye In Sign-And-Trade With JAzz

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jul 9, 2013 5:18 am

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to separate sign-and-trade deals involving the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz.

The Nuggets will send a re-signed Andre Iguodala on a four-year, $48 million contract to the Warriors for a $9 million trade exception.

The Jazz will trade Randy Foye to the Nuggets on a three-year, $9 million contract.

I'm really confused about this trade...
does this mean that in order for Golden State to acquire Iggy, they have to give nuggets $9 million

so nuggets can use the $9 mil received from golden state to get randy foye?????

They use 3ML of the 12ML TPE from the Iguodala trade, to acquire Randy Foye.

No it just means on atheir next trade there can be a difference of 9 million in contracts again on their next trade. The trade exemption means the contracts don't have to match exactly... hence being called an exemption.

This is what I found from a report:

The deal is actually three separate trade transactions. First, the Nuggets had to agree to sign and trade Iguodala to the Warriors. They did so last week, and created a $12 million trade exception in the process. The Nuggets then used part of that exception to acquire Foye, whom Utah agreed to sign and trade to the Nuggets. Foye's first year salary of $3 million brings the remaining portion of the trade exception to $9 million, which is active and can be used for up to a calendar year.

What does this mean for Denver? Why help golden state if denver isnt going to use the tpe to get someone else? Anyone have any idea who denver could target?
