Magic Looking To Add Depth At Point Guard, Center

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jul 11, 2013 6:29 pm

The Orlando Magic are looking to add point guard and center depth before the start of training camp.

Orlando will not re-sign Beno Udrih, who was acquired last season in a trade deadline deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

One free-agent possibility is A.J. Slaughter, a 6-foot-3 guard who has played well for the Magic in summer-league practices.

Actually, in comparison to most teams who have recently had a star leave their team to go elsewhere, the Magic got a great deal for Howard. Vucevic is a monster right now, and is still young. Harkless is going to be something special, and Afflalo is a pretty solid SG. Compared to the Nuggets who lost Afflalo and are going to get Randy Foye for Iggy, or the Bucks who gave up Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb for basically renting JJ Redick for 1/4 of a season, or the Lakers who just had to sign Kaman and Sacre because Dwight left. I think it worked out pretty well for the Magic.

That whole rebuilding thing, that's not a concept you understand is it? The Carmelo trade as well as the Tobias Harris trade have nothing to do with any Dwight Howard scenario, they're all separate from one another.

The fact is that of the initial 4 team deal, Orlando is the only team that has any players or value left, and some pretty good ones at that. Hennigan is going to do exactly what SA and OKC did, and that's build through the draft. And if 'Dipo's performance so far in the SL is any indication, he's not doing too bad of a job.

IMO the orlando magic are the only team to come out of that trade unscathed.
