Parsons Played Key Role In Bringing Dwight Howard To Rockets

When Chandler Parsons switched agents to Dan Fegan in May, he became closer friends with Dwight Howard.

Parsons and Howard originally met in Orlando when the former was playing at Florida and latter was with the Magic.

Parsons helped recruit Dwight Howard to the Houston Rockets.

"I think I had a big impact," Parsons said at USA Basketball's mini-camp. "The first thing he said at the press conference was that, 'You guys should thank Chandler Parsons because he is a big reason why I am here.'

"Obviously, he loves the team, [general manager] Daryl Morey, coach [Kevin] McHale and all that. But I think I just gave him that comfort that you got one of your boys here who is also a key part to the team, a young guy. And we can grow on this for a long time."

Howard began asking Parsons numerous questions about the Rockets shortly after both they and the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs.

"I told him how good I thought we could be," Parsons said. "If you add him with me, James [Harden] and Jeremy [Lin], Omer Asik … [and] what better coach to play for than a top-50 NBA player of all time in McHale? With "Dream" [Hakeem Olajuwon], Yao [Ming] and Ralph [Sampson] and all these centers that had success in Houston, I think it was a no-brainer for him."

Parsons told Howard that playing for the Rockets was like playing for a "college team."

You haven't read enough about Howard. That's the kind of team dynamic he wants. He wants a bunch of guys he can fool around with, plus win championships with. He's a kid in a 6'11 body.

Here. During the summer lapse some of the articles do tend to be very similar.

They're different though... we always see the same information in articles when it involves big stories. One is a source saying Chandler was a big part of it, and this one confirms it by the horse's mouth and exactly what he said.

Logging on and posting simply to complain that articles are similar? A waste of time, especially when someone's going to report it and I have to deal with it

That said, Parsons sure isn't shy about taking credit.

And a helluva job security move too.
He was already the biggest bargain in the NBA (dude makes less a million per for at least 2 more seasons) which practically made him a keeper but now there's almost no way they trade him after his role in luring Dwight Howard.
