LeBron James Considering Run As NBPA President

LeBron James is considering a run to become president of the NBA players union.

“It’s something he has talked about with a small group of people,” a source close to James said. "There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.”

It is still "unlikely" that James takes the presidency, according to the source.

“The demands on LeBron’s time are already substantial," the source said. "Whether it’s formally or informally, LeBron has strong opinions on the future of the union and will be very active in the rebuilding process.”

Don't be like Manny P LeBron! You saw what happened when he had too much on his plate... do you want the same to happen to you? If he is elected President, goodbye 20, 8, 8, and hello 6, 2, 2.

Running a country or being a congressman of a province is much more demanding and time consuming than being President of the NBPA. LeBron will still be LeBron. The summer time is usually when players meet and talk about NBA politics anyways, not during the season.

True, but it would still be another huge chunk on his plate. Chasing a 3rd or, hopefully 4th ring, and being NBPA President.

Good grief! The NBA players will be in such good hands. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure his (no college) education will come in handy. This is really a joke, isn't it?

Besides no education, I can't think of any player that is more out-of-touch with the average NBA player.

I would imagine he'd endorse raising max salaries for stars, lowering min salaries for non-stars, doing away with the lux or salary cap, and with his big bank account, he'd be perfectly happy going on strike if he doesn't get it.

Derek Fisher .. meh .. but I at least think he understands the issues of the majority of the players he'd represent.
