Paul Believes Griffin Will Have To Lead Clippers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 6, 2013 4:43 pm

Chris Paul believes Blake Griffin is the key to the Los Angeles Clippers' championship aspirations, and the guard went as far as to say the team will go as far as his big man can take them.

"Blake is one of those guys, where his age has nothing to do with anything," Paul said. "People may say he's a young guy, but he's been special in this league, he's been an All-Star. His voice carries a lot of weight and I think our team will definitely go as Blake goes.

"He's our guy, and he's good enough to do so."

Paul admits he is frustrated with not contending for an NBA title yet in his career.

"You know what, it's fun and I have a great time trying to show my personality and things like that," Paul said of his marketing opportunities in Los Angeles. "But at the end of the day, one thing I never do is let it take away from basketball. That's my biggest focus, winning basketball games. That's my first priority."

But I thought the Clippers just agreed to pay Paul $100m to lead the team? Oh, I see what you did there Paul you're leading the team by calling out Griffin publicly to become a better leader. Good luck with that.

if it were true, he wouldn't have to say it.

At the same time, pretty sure Chris Paul knows a good player when he sees one.

CP3s career will be defined by West/Griffin and 2nd round if it doesnt happen soon.

I love CP3, but like AI, I don't know how good CP3 will be at age 34. You cant take that for granted. IMO the Clippers would be better without Doc and with KG/Pierce/Terry. I think they chose the wrong Celtics trade.

Shouldn't have volunteered to stay with a bad franschise if he really wanted to compete for championships. After they lose in the playoffs this year, Sterling will go cheap again and start shredding salaries like a block of cheese. No team with Blake as a second option will ever sniff a title. Blake has underachieved, big time, imo. Thought he would be much better than he is, especially defensively.

Griffin can't play the game of basketball, he is an athlete. Clippers are not gonna win anything with him.

Amen. "Paul Believes Griffin Will Have To LEAVE Clippers" is what I read initially, and it should read that.

it's a admittance that he can't do it alone, and an effort to put on spark on griff's behind. griff is too limited.

blake griffin is the most over hyped player in recent nba history. no offensive game whatsoever. all he can do is jump. just a better version of deandre jordan. absolutely ridiculous that he was named all star starter last year. another reason fans shouldnt be allowed to vote.

Oh come on, DeAndre Jordan is a way better shot-blocker.
