Kings Hire AECOM To Design Arena

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Aug 26, 2013 3:39 pm

The Sacramento Kings have hired AECOM to design their new arena.

AECOM is based in Los Angeles and were the lead architects for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as well as putting together the venue master plan for the London 2012 Olympics.

"We have assembled the best artists in the world to design and build the new arena," said Kings owner Vivek Ranadive in a press statement. "AECOM has the résumé to design and create the most technologically advanced and fan-centric arena in the world."

Will someone please explain how this makes sense from a taxpayer perspective? The reason the Kings were losing money hand over first was not the fact that their stadium was deficient; it's because they sucked and the city of Sacramento is awful. So instead of them moving to where they can be profitable they decide to have the city pay millions of dollars to replace an arena that wasn't the cause of their lack of success?

Awesome job.

Before u wanna blow smoke out ur ass know ur facts. 1st off the Kings have made profit when we sold out numerous years. Seattle couldnt keep their team due to the same problem the recent Kings are having. In fact since we kept our team there are no more season tickets left for sale due to new ownership. No one liked supporting the MaGoofs and wat they were involved in. The arena is very old and almost in must needed repair so a new arena is much needed. Last yrs proposal with the MaGoofs involved tax payer dollars and thats why it got turned down in a heartbeat. We have a new owner that wipes his ass with millions and isnt worried about tax paying dollars. This is coming out his pockets and the other 15 owners we have. So back off Seattle fan and if u stay in Sac dont worry it wont harm ur lil paycheck u get. When we do get that arena dont join in the hype either H8TeR!!

"The new arena would cost $448 million, $258 million of that being funded by the City of Sacramento. The rest of the arena ($190 million) would be funded by the new majority owners."

I'm not a Seattle fan and I don't live in Sacramento so I have no idea what you're going on about.
