76ers Delaying To Sign Noel, Carter-Williams To Maximize Cap Space

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Aug 31, 2013 3:23 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to wait on signing first round picks Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel to rookie contracts.

The 76ers have additional cap space by delaying those signings.

Noel has a cap hold of $2,643,600, while Carter-Williams' cap hold is $1,834,100.

I guess they want to see if any other teams are offering big contracts and draft picks to absorb just like what the Warriors did with Rush, Jefferson, and Biedrins to the Jazz. Not too bad of a strategy I guess.

If they are doing it to take on a bad contract of a team currently in luxury tax to get a 2014 1st round pick, would they be open to taking on Kendrick Perkins from OKC or Kirk Hinrich from the Bulls?
