Michael Beasley To Be Released By Suns This Week

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Sep 3, 2013 6:52 pm

Michael Beasley is on track to be released by the Phoenix Suns this week, according to sources.

The Suns will likely announce the move by the end of the week.

Beasley will become a free agent after averaging a career-low 10.1 points and 3.8 rebounds on 40.5-percent shooting in his lone season with Phoenix. He was recently arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession.

By waiting until after Sept. 1 to waive Beasley, Phoenix can pay out the $6 million owed to the 24-year-old forward in 2013-14 on the NBA's standard pay schedule and then stretch the remaining $3 million guaranteed on Beasley's deal in 2014-15 over multiple seasons.

Ryan McDonough is said to be eager to move Beasley out.

Honestly though, how stupid was that signing in the first place? Beasley's issues with pot, focus, coachability and effort were well documented and then you go out and give him 3 guaranteed years at almost $20 million? Any surprise that you're looking to buy the guy out only 12 months later? Headshaking.

Michael Beasley needs to go to Washington,Colorado or California because that's the only way he won't get into trouble for the kind of things he does however he can't take it out of other 47 states which might be a problem

It amazes me how these guys waste talent and opportunity that many would give anything to have. :nonono:

DC is exactly where he'd get in a lot of trouble in. Chris Webber was always on the news for one thing or another when he was here.

His journey in the nba isn't going to end anytime soon. Some team is going to offer him at the very least the minimum salary (1 million+) in free agency just based on his raw talent and age alone. If Beasley puts it together next season at worst he will be a serviceable rotation player. Beasley needs to stop playing for rebuilding situations like the timberwolves and suns where he gets to much freedom and isn't held accountable by veteran players or a respectable coach. I'd love to see Beasley sign with the spurs or mavericks and learn to be professional from either duncan or dirk. Popovich and carlisle also would be good coaches that would push him play more to his potential and keep his off court antics in control.

I have a feeling the Spurs might pick him up and fix him. He's talented but lacks any motivation and if there is a coach that can save him in this league its Popavich.

Go to Portland, bring the JailBlazers back. At least those teams were always making the playoffs.

He would be that missing piece that get the Lakers back into top 4 in the west. They could use his scoring.
