Andrew Bynum Optimistic, Still Unsure Of Return Schedule

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Sep 5, 2013 5:23 am

Andrew Bynum moved to Cleveland a week after his introductory press conference with the Cavaliers and has been training in the team's practice facility.

While Bynum believes his rehabilitation from knee issues has gone well, he is not fully sure of a return schedule and is focusing only on improving his health and game.

"It's a fluid process,'' Bynum said. "I have no idea what the schedule's going to be for me. But I'm doing everything I can to be ready. I think with the program that has been made up, we have a good chance.

"I'm optimistic I'm where I should be. Obviously, I want to be playing. But I'm taking baby steps, doing what the team and the doctors tell me. I'm doing my part. I come to work every day. I'm moving in the right direction.''

Bynum has not been cleared for full-court basketball, but he is on a three-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen.

"I'm doing everything I can do to get back," he said. "That's what all this is all about for me right now. I just want to play."

Or to put it another way, same bull**** different season. It was strange that his agent wouldn't let Bynum work out for teams that were interested in signing him. It is becoming clearer.

To the tune of $12 million. Not a bad getup.

Well, to be fair, $6 million. Still not a bad deal, though.

We at least know part of the return schedule. The first major checkpoint comes in the first week of January. That's when the deadline for waiving him comes up. At that point the Cavs will determine how well Bynum's rehab/development is going, and they will decide to either waive him, or pay him the other half of the $12 Million (the non-guaranteed part) they inked him to in the offseason.

forget about a game, guy hasn't even been practicing basketball yet...just rehabbing, shedding weight, making knee stronger...been out since last spring, if its taking him 1 year and a half and he hasn't even been practicing and STILL rehabbing it really shows what kind of condition his knees are in

3 hours a day, 6 times a week... getting paid a minimum of $6,000,000 for 18 hours/ week. That's roughly a minimum of $6400/ hour for his current work out schedule. This guy is living the life...

The owners are the suckers who overpay. Bynum legally stole from them but it is what it is. Until the owners & GM learn their lessons so be it.

GMs ought to never OVERPAY unless they're bidding for a top 5 talent.

In a perfect world, yeah, you're absolutely right. No one wants to overpay for a player.

Not too many perfect worlds I've heard of sound like Cleveland, though.
