Andrew Bynum Likely To Miss Entire Preseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Sep 18, 2013 2:43 pm

Andrew Bynum is likely to miss the entire preseason as he continues to deal with his return from various knee injuries.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Bynum this offseason and is "nowhere near ready," according to a source.

his rehab was going well last year to, but for a year and half now all hes done is rest and rehab...and rehab is just doing weights and exercises to strengthen muscles and get in shape, maybe doing light cardio...when its time to get on court and do just simple drills and running thats when u know if knee will react or not and it has every time...and when u get on court, with all the heavy running, bending, twisting, jumping and moving in all directions, we'll see how long the knee last even if he passes the rehab and the basketball activities stages...i see 20min off the bench at 40 games max, expect way under

This isn't surprising, but I am curious how his current state is compared to this time last year. It would seem logical that he would be in a better spot now, yes?

If he doesn't play, whatever; that would hardly be unexpected. But going through what Philly had to go through, with the constant changing of the date and the "Oh I'll be ready by ____" would be extremely annoying.

Jeez, what exactly is wrong with his knees that he'd have to be out this long?

Some big guys bodies just can't handle basketball. Some guys like Big Z can have 10000 surgeries and still manage to play but some guys just can't get through it.

I think it's possible that he flat out lied to the Cavaliers in order to get money. I understand that it is only a one-year deal that's only partially guaranteed, but still, money is money. I get he said all the right things, about how he wants to dominate again and how he still considers himself the best center and what not, but those could all be lies to. He may be sitting on his couch right now knowing that he isn't going to play a single minute this season.

The fact is, once the season starts, he will officially be getting paid to rehab. And if they know he isn't going to play the preseason and they have no timetable, that means he definitely isn't going to play before the New Year. The next thing you know, there will be speculation that he'll come back after the All-Star break, because the team wants him healthy for a playoff-push blah blah. Then once the All-Star break comes around, you'll start hearing news about how 'he looks great' and is jumping well. But this is just agent-speak, preparing him for another 1 year deal. Cleveland shouldn't have touched him, not with a 10-ft pole.

Oh, wow. Cleveland actually signed him to a two-year deal. Facepalm.

This is no surprise. They knew this going in. That is why his contract is structured the way it is. He doesn't get all the money if he doesn't play a certain amount of games. Combine that with Andy coming back healthy and it was low risk-high reward.

If he misses another season, I'm going to laugh my ass off, especially if Oden plays as the Cavs essentially picked Bynum over Oden.

Oden didn't want the pressure of having to perform, so, I don't think he would have chosen Cle either way.

If either one of these guys Bynum or Oden plays one game its a big deal, expecting them to give a great amount of help would be big. With the injuries and information about their knees expectations are dreams
