Magic Johnson Leaves ESPN

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Oct 10, 2013 8:13 pm

Magic Johnson is leaving ESPN because of other business commitments.

"We appreciate Magic's contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors," John Wildhack, ESPN's executive vice president, production, said in a statement. "We are in the process of determining our NBA commentator roles for the upcoming season."

Johnson joined the network in 2008 and was part of their "NBA Countdown" crew.

Johnson is a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

but Jalen Rose is still there? Sense makes no?!
You wait all the way until he dribbles to the 3-point line to grab him, so that's obviously a tough one, tough play. I saw coach [Tom] Thibodeau was just shaking his head."

There is now slightly less utterly incoherent television analysis in the world.

All I can say is that, the weasel Simmons must have pictures of someone at ESPN/ABC doing something they were not supposed to do with someone they are not supposed to do it with.

Good. Wilbon and Magic just don't watch enough basketball to know whats going on. While Collins and Simmons are basketball junkies.

This means Magic Johnson will no longer be present during half time shows to give his analysis of the game. Not showing up on ESPN as a regular commentator in the next few months will be key for Magic in successfully leaving ESPN.

Jalen Rose is awesome, one of the top guys out there.

Magic, his great personality and all, added very little insight and if there really was a choice between Magic and Simmons they definitely made the right choice. But there are still several really bad bball analysts still employed by ESPN that need to go, Skip Bayless at the top of the list.

ESPN got a whole lot better to watch. Magic was horrible on it. He literally added nothing to the show

Good, Simmons is a better analyst and overall commentator than Magic.

Bill Simmons is still on the show? It's still unwatchable then. Bill Simmons was the second-worst member of the crew after Magic. They should've kept Wilbon and dumped Bill. Simmons may be a bball junkie, but his suggestions are stupid, his analysis is often wrong, and his opinions are biased. Literally every comment he makes has some parallel to some past Boston team or player. F him and f that show.

Magic Johnson is proof that being a great player does not translate into being a good analyst.

He's probably been signed by the Nets for backcourt depth. Fits their team concept.
