Exec: Rest Of NBA Values Iman Shumpert More Than Knicks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:38 am

The return of J.R. Smith could lead to the exit of Iman Shumpert given the belief that the New York Knicks might undervalue the young guard.

“The rest of the league seems to value Iman more than the Knicks do,” one Eastern Conference executive said. “And his value is high."

One plausible scenario is moving Shumpert for Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried, especially when you factor in the health of Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin.

He won't be moved, furthest would be off the bench, rather than starting.

When the Knicks beat my Celtics last year, Shump was the one player on that team that I actually coveted. Only guy on that roster who puts winning above all else. Would love to see him in Indy, which obviously wouldnt happen.

That's not how that works.

.. but still far far less than Knicks fans on the trade board!

Good player. I'd love him on the Wolves. I don't think the Knicks are moving him though.

Stoudemie is under contract till 2015 and Shumpert will be seeking an extension at the end of the season.

Well, no one can say the rationale of a Faried-Schumpert trade isn't solid. With Hardaway Jr, the Knicks are stacked at shooting guard and they are also very fond of two point guard lineups (Felton, Pablo and Udrich).

Scrub? You have obviously have not seen him play. Yes, his injuries are unfortunate, but when healthy he's the kind of guy you want on a championship team. His defense is ridiculous and his long wing span helps him get steals that can win games. Look at what MCW did to the Heat. Both have similar builds and height.
As much as i like Shumpert though, Knicks really need a big man like Faried if they are going to make the playoffs.

The irony is Faried is the actual scrub. His numbers were padded by George Karl's system that sacrificed defense for fastbreaks and put him at center. He has no post game, he's basically a better rebounding version of the K-Mart/Amare duo the Knicks have now.

Wouldn't surprise me if they traded Shumpert. He has a lot of value and Knicks have a long history of making ridiculous trades. They will probably trade him for some 35 year old 6 foot 9 power forward on bad knees or something.

If anything the Knicks should get rid of JR Smith, Shumpert is so much better than smith.

Open your eyes he starts and his stats are nothing near of a talented PG/SG, only thing he's good at is defending, but look at his play making skills does he have any? No. His scoring is just below mediocre. I know your a knicks fan n i respect that but lets not try to hide facts

Boston will take Shump. Could use him. It's either that or sign Hayward after the season.

Limited offensive capability, overrated defensive capability..... he'll never amount to anything more than a solid role player. Meanwhile the Knicks have more pressing issues in need of addressing. I'd trade him.
