The Brooklyn Nets have reassigned Lawrence Frank.

Frank will remain part of the Nets' coaching staff, but will not be on the bench.

Frank was Jason Kidd's top assistant coach and responsible for the defense.

Kidd declined to elaborate on the situation.

How is Frank still a part of the coaching staff when he won't be on the bench during the games? The Nets are a circus. Everything is crumbling down.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were keeping him around to replace Kidd at some point

Can they send him to the D-League? Must be nice getting paid 1m for the next 6 years to do nothing

No surprise that there would be a conflict of interest. People forget that Frank was Kidd"s coach for many years.

I don't think anybody ever forgets that...

Re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Kidd is over his head. A move like this just delays facing that reality.

they "fired" the wrong coach

so basically fired with pay

what was the ideological differences? Frank is like "we should call plays" and Kidd is like "I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR CRACKPOT SCHEMES!"

Wait, they gave an assistant coach a $6 million contract and the 're-assigned' him after just 16 games? The funny part of course is this was Kidd's old head coach and hand-picked assistant.

I guess Frank's going to be the highest paid advanced scout in the league history for the next few years.

Lawrence Frank must've made some suggestions he thought would help the team win. "Nah, nah, nah, I'm not not having any of that!" Kidd said. "Your're getting reassigned!"

Anyone expecting anything else from Billy King has not been paying attention.

As a Pistons fan, I've watched Lawrence Frank from his days as the coach of the Pistons' then-rival New Jersey Nets, and seen him on a near-daily basis as Detroit's coach the last couple years.

This is a good move. He can't be helping.

I dunno. It sounds like Kidd is getting pressured and had to make some kind of move/excuse. "Blame the assistant coach" is as old as spilling the coke.

Wait...didn't Frank used to coach Kidd in New Jersey? How different can their philosophies be? Smart move by Kidd though to try to jettison everyone around him who might take over if he gets fired. Of course the way things are going he's going to have to start coaching solo at that rate.

Lol they signed a assistant coach to a 6 year contract? Frank's an above average coach at best. How many coaches or even coaching staffs last more than 4 years? I guess it doesn't matter with Prokh writing the checks

They didn't fire him yet though so maybe it's just because it'd be such a waste to fire a guy making that much money for so long a contract, but maybe...

If Kidd had started to blame Lawrence Frank internally, this would be a pretty clever test by the Nets owners/management. As in, 'Oh, it's his fault, is it? Ok then, lets see how you do without him.' Then if Kidd doesn't start to get some results soon, and especially if things get worse, Frank might end up coaching the Nets.

The highest paid assistant coach in the NBA. What a joke.
