Surgeon Preserved '100 Percent' Of Derrick Rose's Meniscus

Derrick Rose underwent surgery last week for a torn meniscus in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season.

Rose's surgeon was able to preserve "100 percent" of the torn meniscus, according to a source.

Retaining the meniscus improves Rose's odds of avoiding chronic knee issues.

I'm not a doctor. I'm far from it, but I got a solution. How about stop wearing Adidas and switching over to Nike, Reebox, Under Armour, or something else? U got nothing else to lose.

is this meant to be good or bad? what does he preserved his knee means. im not a doctor either and it sounds like he wont be having the dwyane wade like issues for his long term future. anyway tank the season away.

This is very good

There's 2 options with a torn meniscus. You can remove the tissue, which allows you to come back in a few weeks, but hurts the longterm stability of your knees (Dwade had this procedure)... OR... You can have the tissue "stitched" back together, which takes a long time to heal, but allows for a full recovery (Rose had this done)

It's very positive news. The meniscus is like a shock absorber. When it get's broken, it bangs up against the other parts of the knee. The temptation (and the quick way out) is to remove the broken parts, but if you do that, you no longer have a shock absorber. The better way in the long term is to put the pieces together and then let the body heal them back together (like with a broken bone), but it also takes way longer, and sometimes there are pieces so shattered that they have to be removed. The news that they were able to keep 100% means he has the potential to have full cushioning in his knee in the future, after he heals.

I don't even think the Bulls will want to keep Derrick unless he plays at an MVP level shortly after his return. They are paying him upwards of 20m and his stats this season seem to show that he's declining and may never return to form.

Rose always comes back stronger after an injury, and with a better vertical.
By 2050 he'll be the strongest man to have ever lived and with a vertical of 20ft.

1, You realize that adidas owns reebok, right?

2. It was a freak accident; something that would have happened because of his style of play, not because of his shoes...

Exactly how is that failed logic. He mentioned Reebok, which is owned by the same company that he currently endorses. It would be a lateral move at best for him to do that. #thisainttwitter

You do know that he has not played Regular Season NBA level basketball in 18 months, right? Even all the commentators and ESPN like that have said that Rose needed at least a month or two before he starts getting back into form. He only played 10 REAL NBA games while averaging 31 minutes. Of course he ain't gonna be playing at his MVP level with that short amount of time... Jesus. If Derrick can get 100% confidence back then he WILL be able to play at an MVP level because of how much work he puts into basketball. Just wait and see. Might take him half the season or even more next year to get back to his MVP form because hes missing another year.

It doesn't take a doctor to use google.
