Byron Scott Not Surprised With Split Between Kidd, Frank

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Dec 5, 2013 6:07 am

Byron Scott coached Jason Kidd to two NBA Finals appearances with the then-New Jersey Nets in 2002 and 2003, when Lawrence Frank was on his coaching staff.

The former Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans coach was not surprised at all by Kidd's demotion of Frank to "daily reports," banning Frank's presence in practice and games.

“It does surprise me a little that it happened so quickly,” Scott said. “But it’s safe to say that I’m not [surprised] it happened at all because of the personalities involved.”

Scott was replaced by Frank as Nets' coach in the 2003-04 season.

“When I’m putting a staff together,” said Scott, “the key point of emphasis for me is, ‘I want you to be open and honest, I want your input but at the end of the day, I’m going to do what I think is best.’

“In Jason and Lawrence, I detect two very strong-willed people who don’t back down. I could easily see maybe Jason getting to the point where he felt Lawrence was over-stepping his bounds.”

Based on the very last quote it's obvious that he's taking a shot at LFrank. That said, he doesn't have any of the details so he probably should have said nothing at all.
