Some GMs Wouldn't Offer Rudy Gay MLE In Free Agency

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Dec 9, 2013 11:22 pm

The Toronto Raptors traded Rudy Gay on Sunday in a deal with the Sacramento Kings.

Masai Ujiri found a trade partner in his former front office colleague with the Denver Nuggets in Pete D'Alessandro.

"I know GMs who say they wouldn’t touch him now in free agency for the midlevel exception," wrote Lowe.

Gay has a player option for the 14-15 season worth $19.3 million.

He's just as overrated as Melo. Both chuck shots, both are mediocre defenders and neither of them make their teammates better. Never seen a shot he didn't like...

I'd say Melos more overrated, just cuz most people realize how bad Gay is now

I hope Rudy G explodes in Sacramento and gets his game together, this experience should put some fire under him.

In the right system, he could play the role of a Shawn Marion. Not great at anything, but help in several areas due to his wingspan, athleticism and strength.

Ujiri came into a complete mess and managed to get rid of 2 bad contracts (Rudy Gay and Andrea Bargnani). Not bad. Not bad at all Mr. Ujiri.

I'd love to see you explain exactly how Rudy Gay isn't similar to Carmelo Anthony. Neither guys make their teammates better. The only real difference is that 'Melo is heaps better on ISO plays than Rudy Gay.

Well First of all, Melo is the best pure scorer in the league. bar none. Second, he averages about 10 rebs a game and mind u that most of them come on the offensive side. Gay has upside over Melo in terms of Athleticism but thats it. Melo is the better Post defender and is more stronger. Give melo players like derozan, lowry and Val, The team would be beast. Its a joke how easily Melo is dis-regarded among the league, He has no value anymore because of media bashing.

How many people know about Rudy Gay's issue with sight? He refuses to wear corrective lenses or glasses of any kind to help him see better. That is one of the biggest reasons he struggles with any ranged shot.

Not gonna argue with you here. You make a lot of good point. Best scorer in the league BAR NONE? Eh idk. KD got something to say about that & LBJ is he didn't shoot 60% fg. But yes he's definitely 1 of the best, def top 3.

Yeah he's averaging 9.7rbs this year, but over his career 6.5 & honestly, most of those offensive rebounds are his own. He always does that stupid double pump miss the first, get his board & goes back up. It's actually kinda cool. He's been rebounding much better this year & idly? Lol do you? I know he's at the 4, but he was there last year too?

Yeah Gay has more athleticism but that's it. Melo's a stronger post defender & you're right about all that. It's a stupid comparison that Gay is Melo. Obviously Melo is better, but I think the dudes point was that they're the same type of player, if that makes sense.

I get the hate on Gay and while he's a seriously flawed player... GM's wouldn't touch him for the MLE? Really?? I'd be very curious to know which GM's.

Good trade for the Raps though.

I agree, enough GMs will be looking to pick him up when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Shouldn't the topic be.

Some GMs WOULD offer Rudy Gay MLE in Free Agency

since that might actually be more news worthy?
