'Wildcard' Team Also Pursuing Omer Asik

The Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers are pursuing Omer Asik in trade scenarios with the Houston Rockets.

There is also one more interested team in the mix for Asik.

"A wildcard," one source said.

Asik is averaging 4.4 points and 6.8 rebounds this season and has held a trade request for most of the season.

It only is in your head. There is no evidence of any team being interested.

The Rockets throw out manipulation tactics and things into the media to try and make you pay more for him

Boston is definitely absolutely NOT in the mix. This is a hoax. The Celts already have Kelly Olynyk and Vitor Faverani. They have no use for Asik.

Cavs are not interested in Asik. They could be the 3rd team involved, but this report of him for AV is incorrect.

Seriously, it's not hard to figure out the teams who would be interested... Atlanta, Boston, and Charlotte. Philly is interested only in trying to facilitate and get some more assets out of it. Figure that at least for now, Western teams are out because Morey will ask them to overpay. Morey is certainly pulling out all the stops here. Don't suppose it has something to do with him severely overvaluing Asik and his balloon payment, hmmmm? :lol:

LMAO Boston is not tanking. They want a REAL center. No doubt they have big interest in Asik, he would make them much better.

Fore sure, ATL is interested, but what lots of people don't see is that even if HOU want Milsap, and it can't guarantee that ATL would improve with Asik+Horford instead of Horford+Milsap.
So ATL is certainly more interested in getting Asik without trading Milsap.

Inventing imaginary "wildcard" market forces is a negotiation tactic to get the people that are legitamately interested fooled into overpaying.

This is a standard negotiation tactic.

Also asking for the moon at first and settling for something more that you would have paid to begin with is another standard negotiation tactic. Saying a crazy thing like I need 5 first round picks for Asik. Then you can later be like I guess you win the trade, I'll only take 3 unprotected first round picks and your best player for him you shrewd negotiator you! You really got me there! When in reality he is only worth a 2nd round pick.

his stats reflect usage, not ability.

asik has produced at a high level in this league (be it for relatively small stretches compared to his salary), which is why he got paid out the way he did. the howard trade stepped on the toes of his production.

teams know what he's capable of. and it's got value. morey is a master of maximizing this on the market, and exploiting desparation... as knick fans know.

Speights is a big PF that can spread the floor.... and I want to punch him in the face. he's a perfect fit for the Rockets.
