Source: Blazers Identified As 'Wild Card' For Omer Asik

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 18, 2013 6:28 pm

The Portland Trail Blazers have been identified as the 'Wild Card' team in on a trade for Omer Asik, a league source told RealGM's Andrew Perna.

The Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers are also pursuing a trade with the Houston Rockets for Asik, according to a report on Tuesday by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski added that there was an unidentified 'Wild Card' team.

The Rockets seek a power forward in the deal with Paul Millsap, Thaddeus Young, Brandon Bass, Jeff Green and Anderson Varejao as candidates.

This does not surprise me, if we could get him and keep Lopez somehow I might be willing to do the deal, of course need to see what the whole trade is first of course.

I don't know if I would pull this trade if I was Portland. Robin Lopez is having a good season and he can return back to Portland next year with a team-option at $5.3 mil. He's much cheaper than Asik and not as offensively limited as Asik. The only thing Asik has on Robin Lopez is the rebounding, but Portland already have LaMarcus Aldridge and Thomas Robinson that can handle that rebounding role. I would pass if I was Portland.

Speights for Asik. I need all the players I hate to go to the Rockets.

This will never happen. As much as Portland needs big man depth, they have great chemistry and a great thing going. They wouldn't be able to trade anything of value without screwing everything up. Unless the rockets are willing to take garbage players in return. Obviously not happening. This is probably just a ploy by Houston to inflate the value of Asik.

the Blazers chemistry is at an all time high, and I feel like they don't have much to offer anyways.

This news has to piss off Fro-Lo. I think Robin is a better shooter. Unless their mgmt. feels Asik is a major upgrade, they need to stay out of this one.

Yeah, this idea smacks of Rocket's baiting. Inflate their guy's trade value while undermining a conference rival's chemistry. Lopez is doing just fine for the Blazers. It should be left at that.
I move around so much, I've just decided to start rooting for everybody.
Except the Heat.

Asik would have to start and would have to get a lot of minutes or as we have witnessed he will be a big fn baby. I don't want a big baby here I want unshelfish team player Lopez Asik won't be coming here.
