The Sacramento Kings pulled off a trade for Rudy Gay this season, and the team remains active in trade discussions and is "swinging for the fences," according to one executive.
Pete D'Alessandro's true long-term target is said to be Klay Thompson, who will be a restricted free agent after next season.

Pete D'Alessandro has some balls I'll give him that. I think most of us in Sacramento are just happy to see some aggressiveness and fiscal investment after the Maloof years. Really they stayed bad as an excuse to get out of town. Curious if the turnaround will take as many years as some expect.
Keep trying Pete lots of work to do.

I appreciate the Kings trying to bring in as much talent as possible, and Thompson would definitely be nice, but why do we need more offensive firepower? We already have Thomas, Cousins, and Gay hoisting 15-20 shots a game each, who is going to give up their shots for Klay? At this point we should be thinking about fixing our biggest problem (defense) by bringing in a defensive minded 2 and 4, as well as a defensive backup pg so when stronger pgs begin to take advantage of Thomas we have a nice backup. I like Klay a lot but I think we need to stop focusing so much on offense for a minute.

Klay is a long-term target? I don't see him as being that big of a deal - more of a support/role. Not sure who they would give up for him?

looks like Kings are just trying to acquire assets over time and then trade them off for bigger assets. Gay isn't the best player to have for trades, but then again i can see a crap team looking to get him just to get the fans something to be "happy" about.

Well w/ Mclemore eventually gonna be a killer, you definitely got enough offense. Would sac be down to trade for a different pg? Maybe if you guys get a good pick, take Smart & that makes Thomas expendable?
I agree, for Kings fans who've been up in the air about if there team is even gonna stay, its nice to see an aggressive group. Still a lot of work to do, but so much better already than a couple years ago. They'll turn it around. Who doesn't want to see Sacto a powerhouse again? Crazy arena back in the early 2000's.

The Kings are terrible. Rudy Gay is a terrible player who hogs the ball from the perimeter, jacks up shots he has no business taking, and then plays no defense. You cannot build your team with a player like that. SMH

He has been pretty good for Sacramento so far.
He really makes life much easier for Cuz and IT. One step at a time.

4-6 I think, which is a slight improvement. Our bench is thin, and our ship has many holes.

Kings have great talent, but poorly managed talent.

Gay has been playing well for the Kings. Team is not winning because there are still a lot of holes that they are trying to fill. Best thing for them to do is just tank this season.

Rudy gay is far from terrible. Jr smith is an example of a terrible player.

Klay Thompson is pretty nice. I don't think the kings have a chance at getting him though.

So I guess the knicks are better right? And Carmelo is a great player to build around right? You cannot build your team with a player like Carmelo. So try again poor knicks fan

Rudy Gay is not terrible. He is not an elite star but there is a long list of teams without an elite star which you wonder why fans spend the money to go so below average teams with average players. At least the Kings have made an attempt to get a player like Rudy that has a big name and fans would enjoy watching. It's not as if they are a top free agent destination.

He's playing much better with the Kings, but I did not enjoy watching him at all. He had a few highlight plays but mostly just held onto the ball and forced a tough layup or tough shot. High turnovers, few passes and poor shooting percentage. Theres not much exciting about that
