Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:37 pm

Dwight Howard revealed on Wednesday that he was invited to participate in the NBA dunk contest next month in New Orleans, but he declined.

Howard, 28, cited he is too old to participate in the event.

 its been 6 years and he has had back surgery last season. He has nothing to prove, let the kids / rookies compete in it. He is one of the few star these days to compete unlike others like lebron, kd, etc etc . Also he is old considering how many years he has been in the league. He came straight from High School

I know people have been zinging Dwight left and right since he left the Lakers but there's absolutely no reason to criticize Dwight about this.

He's done it before more than one year and it's done with - it's played out. He and Nate had their little back-and-forth routine in the contest. Let other guys who actually want to dunk or have not yet participated into the contest.

Yeah, I'm looking at you Lebron. :P

This is probably a good thing. Not sure he has anything fresh to add to the dunk contest.
Since he's no longer a fav favorite, I doubt anyone would tune in for him anymore.

Dwight can't jump like he used too. He would probably lose if he participated.

LeBron, KD, Paul George, and then you lost me. 1... its a 4 man contest 2... they'res a lot of better dunks in the league than the last 3 players mentioned. 3... odds are the 4th player would be Ross... the previous years winner.

KD is a pretty boring dunker. All he ever does is the line drive one handed flush.

My dunk contest lineup would go:

T-Ross
Harrison Barnes
Paul George
LeBoob

Anthony Davis representing the hometown Pelicans, and Lillard and Leonard as upcoming players representing the top two teams in the west.

The slam dunk contest doesnt have anything to do with the top teams.

just because they are star players doesn't mean they can be creative dunkers. Look at nate robinson or terrence ross

Only Raptors should be allowed to participate... we've clearly proven that no props needed works. VC owned it and set the bar... DeMar got robbed twice... and Terrence brought it back where it belongs... TO Baby.

Save that for the 2016 All-Star Weekend.

Agreed, but i wouldn't say ruined; just an impossible bar to reach. Only player who kept it going to that level was J Rich
