Bogut: We're Close To Being Built For Title, But Not There Yet

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jan 21, 2014 5:44 pm

The Golden State Warriors continued their struggles against better teams on Monday, losing 102-94 to the Indiana Pacers.

The Warriors have lost six games at home this season, all among the NBA's elite except for the Denver Nuggets.

"(The Pacers) are a team built for a championship, you can see that," Andrew Bogut said. "We're close, but we're not there yet. Our start was dismal, and then I thought the next three quarters we competed a little better and played our style of basketball. But the first quarter cost us."

They could have won that game if Bogut didnt go down at the end. They gave up offensive rebounds and a bucket on back to back possessions with under 3 minutes left which really cost them. Add in Green and Lee going 1/4 at the line late and the already mentioned awful start and they were neck and neck with Indy.

They still need 1 more backup guard though. Miller, Udrih, Hinrich are all guys that can spell Steph Curry and also play with him at times.

Curry is a great talent indeed but he can't lead a team to an NBA championship. Not with this team anyway.

If Iguodala would of play better defense on Paul George, Curry would of stop forcing those three pointers, Klay Thompson can get some damn rebounds, and Harrison Barnes can get his head out of his ass, this game would of been to the Warriors. Bogut is right. This team is good, but not there yet. I still don't trust Mark Jackson and the way he substitute in guys. He pretty much put the whole bench squad in at the same time. Crawford, Bazemore, Green, Barnes, and Speights on the court together is one horrible lineup.

Yea that's what killed the Warriors. Indiana had too much size for the Warriors. They were getting out rebound and Indy getting easy uncontested buckets. When Lee and Bogut both on the court together, the Warriors are fine because they got two legit rebounders with one player being Bogut as a very good rim protector to help Lee's lack of defense.

BUT! When Speights comes in for Bogut to play with David Lee, opponents open their eyes wider and attack the rim because they know Speights and Lee are not going to contest their shots or going to outwork them for the rebounds. Same goes for Green coming in fro Lee to play with Speights. I love Green's heart and passion, but opponents will have their ways with those two being the PF and C. It's a whole different team when Bogut is out and Speights is in. Warriors definitely need to upgrade and have someone better than Speights coming in for Bogut. Someone who can protect the rim, contest shots, and rebound just like Bogut for about 20 minutes. Green is ok as the backup PF/SF, but Speights got to go!

Bogut always speaks his mind with truth. One thing on warrior bigs Jermaine O Neil and Ezelli who started like 40 games are not around. Ezelli provided good rim protection and ok rebounding in his first year. O Neil would provides scoring and shotblocking

Bogut has been earning respect this year, just by staying in the games and reminding us how much of a factor he is defensively... Great anchor and paint protector.

That being said, its a gamble when the Warriors play him above 30 mins on a nightly basis.. Save him for the playoffs, because it will help GS to get some depth at the 5. This will be the reason they don't make it, if they don't act soon. Harrison Barnes is good, but too young and not a banger inside. If you want a ring, a veteran is needed here.

Yea I can't wait for Ezeli and O'Neal to come back to help Bogut out, but unfortunately, both players might not be back until towards the end of the regular season. With Ezeli and O'Neal, they both compliment David Lee really well and the Warriors definitely won't miss a beat when Bogut is resting with their shotblocking and rim protecting skills, but both players are not quite as good of a rebounder as Bogut. Tired of seeing opponents attacking the paint when Bogut is resting and having Speights back there with his low basketball IQ -___________-

Well they have Ezeli coming back soon and they did bring Jermaine O'Neal in. If one of those guys can come back they should be ALRIGHT. Speights should not be a 5 with Lee on the court, maybe if they have no big man but both of those guys can not stop penetration.

Bogut/Ezeli/JO
Lee/Green/Barnes/Speights
Iguodala/Barnes/Green
Thompson/Crawford
Curry/Crawford

They really need a backup point guard or Curry is gonna run out of gas before PO.

I agree. Speights shouldn't be playing C with Lee out there at PF at the same time. Speights shouldn't be a C in general. He's a defensive liability at C and with him and Lee at PF and C, it makes you want to throw up haha!!!

O'Neal supposedly will be back in couple of weeks and Ezeli will be back towards the end of the regular season according to ESPN, but I still wouldn't trust O'Neal when he returns. He's been injured for the last couple of seasons now and Ezeli had a pretty severe injury with that right knee. I think for now, Warriors can't do anything about it, but to accept that Speights will be the C for the remaining period until O'Neal or Ezeli returns unless they can pull off another great trade. Speights + O'Neal/Kuzmic for Mozgov/Koufos/Hawes? =D
