Exec: Joel Embiid 'Moves Like Guard'

Joel Embiid has solidified his position at the top of many teams draft boards and is the favorite to go first overall.

"His footwork is outstanding," said one league executive. "He moves like a guard. He doesn't back down. He's making mistakes, but all ones that are very fixable. I love him."

Embiid is averaging 11.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

He got man handled by the bigger, stronger Texas center, Ridley. That looks like it will be his biggest weakness in the NBA.

Well, that is actually totally normal, and "fixable" like the Exec said.

When KG entered the league, he only averaged 10 ppg, 6 rbg on 49% shooting in his rookie year.
Look what he became.

He must've been 6'11/7'0, 230 at the time.

The whole 'moves like a guard' might be a bit overkill, but he is incredibly athletic and nimble on his feet for his size.

He's certainly no less athletic than an Anthony Davis/Serge Ibaka type out there, while being already more proficient in the post.

Have you actually watched him play?

He will just get beaten by Centers like Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert, Cousins. Time will tell when (if) he truly improves his size and strength.

The kid is a freshman. Dwight wasn't always that big and Hibbert took a few years to put things together. Cousins is probably the only one that really had it together, game wise—his attitude, not quite there yet.
