Rockets Interested In Trading For Rajon Rondo

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 19, 2014 8:25 pm

The Houston Rockets are interested in trading for Rajon Rondo.

The Boston Celtics have been shopping Rondo ahead of the deadline, though they will likely need a huge return in order to pull the trigger.

Darryl Morey and Danny Ainge are former colleagues in the Celtics' front office.

parsons is going to make 10+ million in free agency. if they want rondo, they would need to give him up. there is no way to keep 4 guys over 10 million a year (especially with dwight making over 20)

Parsons is the dealbreaker? rly? I like Parsons game, but if you have a chance at a PG like Rondo you better do it. try to also get rid of asik and get jeff green in the same deal while you're at it lol

Parsons has another year at $900k before he becomes a FA. They could deal him then, or their owner can pony up and pay all 4 guys.

Rondo is elite. I'm sure Houston , along with another 20+ teams would be interested in Rondo. Don't mean he's going anywhere.

Parsons is my favorite player and I really don't like rondo

I can learn to like him like I've learned to TOLERATE Dwight, but if we trade my favorite player for him I might always hate him

They certainly don't have to move Parsons because of salary concerns, he only makes 920K right now and 960K next season and won't be a free-agent until 2015. By that time Rondo's current contract will be over and it still gives them 1.5 years to make decisions about future payroll including if they want to go into the luxury tax, re-sign Rondo, trade Parsons or move any of their other big contracts. But one thing is certain, they would absolutely have to move either Asik or Lin to balance any trade for salary purposes here.

So basically the offer is the same... Some combination of Lin/Asik and picks. Unsavoury

I love Rondo but he'd be a terrible fit for the Rockets with Harden. They both need the ball in their hands.

Why do they want Rondo?

He's an awful fit with their team.

Parsons for Rondo? Darryl better not be the one pushing such nonsense! Rondo doesn't even fit the team, and could potentially be overvalued since he hasn't done much without the big 3 for support.

I was hoping this involved asik. It would be ideal for rockets to trade asisk, lin, and Beverley for rondo. But those contracts are far too large for boston to want to take on. Player value wise, the trade would make sense, money wise it wouldn't. But regardless, losing parsons for rondo isn't worth it by a long shot. Far to many risks involved in place of losing one of the most solid aspects of the team.

just tell me which all-star calibre player dont need the ball in his hands. which pg dont need ball in hands?

houston have harden-howard-t.jones-parsons.
so their weak spot is PG.
they need a guard. rondo isnt ball-hog. he doesnt prefer to shoot much. so he's not BRANDON JENNINGS!

You have a pont, but Rondo needs the ball in his hands more than most players because hes a horrible off ball player. Teams can play 5 on 4 when Rondo doesn't have the ball in his hands because hes a horrible jump shooter. Hell a lot of teams don't even guard him when he does have the ball in his hands. Rondo would be a good fit with a team of shooters where he can dominate the ball and run the offense 95% of the time. Him off the ball isn't very good.

I think it's a great fit. Can initiate the offence much more effectively than Lin or Harden bringing the ball up the court, isn't a score first PG (which would butt heads with Hardens incessant need to have the ball in his hands), can get the ball to dwight off pick and roll or under the basket.
