Bucks Continue Talks On Gary Neal Trade, Await Acceptance

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 19, 2014 8:31 pm

The Milwaukee Bucks have steadily progressed with several teams in discussions on a trade of Gary Neal and await a franchise to advance toward completion, a league source told RealGM.

Neal has remained prepared for a change of scenery on a playoff contender, and the Bucks’ front office has worked hard to find an amicable trade to part ways. No deal is imminent, and there’s strong belief negotiations will push Thursday’s afternoon deadline.

A free agent signing of the Bucks last July, Neal quickly fell out of the rotation and has gone large portions of the season without receiving playing time. He achieved individual and team success as a sharpshooting reserve for the San Antonio Spurs from 2010 to 2013, averaging 9.4 points on 47 percent three-point shooting in last year’s NBA Finals.

For the 29-year-old, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Bobcats appeal as two of several interested organizations.

Neal is averaging 10 points in 30 games this season. The 6-foot-4 guard has been showcased over the past three contests, scoring nearly 14 points per game.

Danny Ainge. read this lol

Bos out -- Bass & Bogans
Bos in -- Gordon, 2nd.

Cha out -- Gordon
Cha in -- Bass & Neal

Mil out -- Neal
Mil in -- Bogans

Boston gets cap relief. Cats get deep & make a playoff run. Bucks save money next year w/ Bogans being an expiring. The tankers tank, & the fighters fight.

Really, what market is there for Neal? He was overrated by and his flaws were hidden by the Spurs system, he has gotten less efficient every year he's been in the league, and is getting exposed badly now that he's on a bad team. He's 29 years old, so he's not going to get any better. Just an overrated, inefficient chucker really. No real need for the Bucks to persist with players of his ilk, but I can't see anyone else really clamoring for his services either.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

A lot of contending teams could use him like Golden State, Houston, Indiana, Wizards.

What, a low efficiency, high volume chucker? Sounds exactly what you don't want to try and incorporate into your offense at this time of the season.

You also have to realize that he is on the Milwaukee Bucks of all teams: they have no offense so Neal has to do something that he is not used to which is create offense on the team. If he is on a contending team, he will have a role he is comfortable w/ which is to spot up and hit 3's.

Nice! I'm always in favour of getting rid of Bass/Wallace for expiring contracts.

Lol thanks man. It's not a sexy deal, but it makes a lot of room (Bos only have like 40mil on the books). It'd make the Bobcats wayyyy better. Sessions, Neal, Bass, Biombo/Zeller is a good bench. I'd think they'd def make the playoffs. & For Mil they get out of Neal's 3+mil next year.

Lol just makes too much sense to me, but what do i know?

Why not the Knicks? They need championship-caliber experience.
