The Houston Rockets signed Troy Daniels out of the NBA D-League on Friday while releasing Ronnie Brewer.

Brewer signed with the Rockets as a free agent last offseason.

Daniels has spent the season with the Rockets' affiliate, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and will remain with the D-League team.

What ever happened to Ronnie Brewer? He was never much of a shooter, but was still pretty athletic, talented and versatile at one stage (played all three perimeter positions in college), played within his limitations and provided some quality defense. He seemed to have peaked at around 22-23 years old, and has been on a steady decline ever since, to the point where he's now virtually useless and has been dumped mid-season by a team that could definitely still use perimeter defense. He's never had any real history of major injuries as far as I know, so what went wrong?

I remember the day when the article about rockets signing brewer was here, i mentioned that he was overvalued, a wasted talent, and waste of space that shouldn't be looked at. All three turned out to be correct.

Brewer's problem is that he lacked the ability to improve. There are some people who will hit their plateau just after being in the league for a year or two, and that was brewer. Coaches however were interested in his good defense, and athleticism. They always try to develop him but he always remained sub par. That is just how it is sometimes, not every player has the ability to grow. This is why i wanted rockets to avoid him from the start, he was just a waste of time and money.

Brewer isn't a bad player, he was valuable for Chicago. He just needs the right team and he didn't fit the Rockets. Rockets need 3 point shooting specialists and rebounders.

He was valuable on chicago, but he wasn't valuable enough. The only consistent part of his game is his defense. He is inefficient, his shot worse that the average Nba player at his position as well. There are times he was able to go off, but every starting G/F in the NBA does that time to time. When bulls needed him most, to make the transition from just a playoff team to a contender, he was not able to deliver. They needed someone who was somewhat dangerous from deep and could create his own shot when needed. They also needed him to be a strong offball player. But he couldn't and all those years where people wanted the bulls to make noise in the playoffs while they couldn't was partially due to his weakness in the starting lineup. He was their biggest hole in the starting lineup. He's a bench player, 6th-7th man at most, who was forced into the starting lineup due to bulls lack of wing talent....

Compare brewer to Marvin Milliams then you might understand just how impactful of a player he is. That comparison might even be too kind. He's not a bad player, but he is definitely not a good player.
