And you're wondering why Minnesota didn't offer Love a 5 year maximum contract to save it for Rubio :banghead:

lol this guy. is this your first time in a news comment section?

He's referring to the actual article itself, that says "Rubio has not shown to be deserving of an eight figure salary,"

It doesn't list sources for that, so its adding an opinion to a factual article. He wasn't talking about the comments section.

Exactly. This isn't an OpEd column, it's a newsfeed. Totally bogus journalism to slip that in... BUT what do they care when half the followers don't have reading comprehension skills anyway

e.g. the first 2 guys responding to the OP

He's a poor man's Rondo. 7-8 per year max.

what is the kid 21? I think you might have to gamble on upside alone...you can't say he hasn't gotten his shot right in 3 years cause his injury kept him out half of that. he can do everything BUT shoot. that is what you want in a point guard.

Hahaha, everything in that comment sounds like something else. What've you and Rubio been doing lately?

When very young players can do average things on an NBA court, they are considered exceptional...

That being said, Rubio's assists and steals rankings will be the ultimate bargaining chip for his agent. He could easily get the $10mil/yr... Although he shouldn't make more than $6mil/yr for the next two years, until he shows he can make shots (inside or out).

Someone going to do it. There is always some weird GM with some weird Idea that over pays for a player. I never really understood why any player gets overpaid, its never worth it.

He is not a poor man's Rondo. He is a homeless man's Rondo, at best.

Dont' do it Minnesota! Hell, even Kyle Lowry would be an upgrade.

EVEN Kyle Lowry? Lmao he's arguably the best PG in the East, playing out of his mind. Wolves would need to bend over backwards to get him.

holla3mikeg wrote:Rubio is a beast and is well worth 8 figures, imo. Especially, if it means keeping Love. Calderon got 4 years/28 million atage 32. Rubio still has tremendous upside and his one flaw is easily fixable. Any player can practice and be coached into being a good shooter. There are infinitely many examples of that. What can't be taught is an innate sense for the game and court vision. He leads the league in steals and is not far back in assists. He's still very young too. I recently went to a Mavs game to see him and Love in person. He was very impressive and scored 22 points, 15 assists, 10 boards and 4 steals. The kid can ball. Also, his shooting has actually improved from distance this year. His% has been negatively effected by his inability to finish at the rim. As his game evolves, he will continue to improve his jumper and be more judicious with his drives to the basket. He has the potential to be one of, if not the best PGs in the game and that's well worth 10+ mill. Particularly in Minnesota

Well.. when Rubio starts shooting straight, we will talk about the 8 figures. But since he does not, 7m per is what he is gonna get for the next 3 seasons.

I wouldn't call him close to the best. I can name a long list of ECF PGs better than Lowry:

Irving
Wall
Williams
Rondo
MCW
Kemba Walker
Jennings
D Rose
Teague
Oladipo

That would effectively put him out of the top 10. He's playing for the contract. He's overrated to be honest and will likely become a Raymond Felton light (fat PG) as he gets older and has earned his big contract.

You wanna fix Ricky Rubio? Get him on the Spurs, Chip Engelland will take care of it.

Well you're a ballboy and a knicks fan, so there's some definite combination of butthurt-ness and ignorance. You take this exact argument to a non biased NBA fan, and see how they will laugh at your face. Overrated? Raymond Felton light? hahahaha. I won't even bother. How about you actually watch a Raptors game before you decide to post these things and embarrass yourself?
