Bobcats To Target Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson In Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 29, 2014 5:03 pm

The Charlotte Bobcats will target Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson in a potential trade.

Steve Clifford is believed to be fond of Afflalo and Nelson.

Nelson, 32, is entering the final season of his contract at $8 million, but only $2 million of that is guaranteed if Nelson is waived by July 15.

Afflalo, 28, is due to earn $7.5 million next season and has a player option for 2015-16, also valued at $7.5 million.

Afflalo is an ideal fit here. Just hope we're not giving up too much for a one-year rental.

Yeah, Afflalo would provide spacing, to offset MKG's main flaw.

So why didn't the Bobcats go after one or both of them this past season? I'm sure the tanking Magic would have let them go with a decent offer on the table.

Henderson + Haywood + Neal for Nelson + Afflalo would work if Charlotte doesn't want to trade MKG or Zeller.

PG - Kemba/Nelson
SG - Afflalo
SF - MKG
PF - McRoberts
C - Jefferson/Biyombo/Zeller

That still leaves Charlotte with significant cap space to go after a small forward, backup power forward, and shooting guard.

Don't they mean Charlotte Hornets?

RIP Charlotte Bobcats
What you know about Dirk’s leadership skills is non existent. You don’t have a clue. Your ability to evaluate leadership skills….well you obviously have an overinflated value of your own. Did you take business classes at Marquette?

Both would be prefect fit for sure

If Detroit s pick fall out of top 8 (17% chance it happen) the pick goes to charlotte.

So let's say charlotte ends up with the 2014 9th pick

#9+biyombo for AA
Draft Carter
Sign monk
Trade Cole for a forward
Let chuma+fultz go
Offer Harris and goga a 1+1 deal

unleash Jett next seaon

Go Magic

Suggs, AB, Carter
Monk, Jett, Harris
Franz, Jett, Houstan
Paolo, Moe, (Cole trade)
Wcj, JI, goga

It would take a lot to get a deal done. #9 + MKG most likely.

Orlando never does that trade.

This would be a great move. Afflalo is the missing piece to their starting lineup. Huge need for a wing scorer. Nelson would be a strong mentor for Kemba.

That seems like the most logical trade.

I'm sure they'd rather keep the pick and pick up a rookie on a four year deal rather than a rental for an aging wing.

Anytime you have a chance to demolish your treadmill team to spend 5 years rebuilding to the level of a treadmill team, you have to do it.

Aging?? He is 28, a very good sg, great teammate, hard working player.
Exactly what charlotte need.

to be fair to the cats, they've been dedicated to the tank for a while now, it's just not working out

Yea, it's a treadmill type of move, but the talent in the NBA is starting to become such that you can actually pickup great talent in free agency now.

Why would Orlando EVER do this trade?

Because the tanking Magic have a plan- AA and his good contract are very much a part of it.
I have a gut feeling Nelson is too. After the departures of Shaq and Howard the Magic need a guy that stands for franchise longevity and it seems like Jameer is happy finishing his career here (I know a guy that knows a guy...)
If he really wants to stay it's probably in the Magic's best interest to make that happen, given his diminished trade value anyway.

Not a fan of either team, believe it doubtful the Bobcats or Hornets or whatever are dumb enough to do such a trade, AA's value is not that high.

I really like Afflalo, I think he could be the missing piece on the Bulls as a Plan B should we not be able to acquire Carmelo.

Extremely good player, really underrated. Jameer can contribute still too.

Afflalo's value is really inflated thanks to this past year on a brutal squad. Anyone who buys high on him will be taking two steps back.

If anyone is crazy enough to think Orlando will just give Afflalo AND Nelson away for the broken highlight machine Henderson, then that's kind of sad lol.
