The Atlanta Hawks are expected to be involved in the free agency of Greg Monroe.
Monroe will be a restricted free agent of the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons' frontcourt of Monroe, Andre Drummond and Josh Smith struggled during the 13-14 season.
Monroe is represented by David Falk, who was the agent of Danny Ferry during his playing career.

Why not sticking with the commitment to small ball? Put Al Horford back, and this team is a top four in Eastern Conference.

Perhaps Atlanta would be top 4 in the east this year with Horford back but is that really anything to be proud of? The #4 seed in the east this year only needed 48 wins and would not have made the playoffs in the west. So what about next year?
Philly and Orlando had the two best rookies this season while having a ton of cap space and two lottery picks (each!) in what is expected to be a very very strong draft class. So these two teams will likely leapfrog the Hawks. What if Rose comes back healthy? The Hawks can't get in front of a healthy Bulls team.
... so yes, Atlanta should go after a strong big man if they can.

sign me up!! Monroe would fix a lot of our woes at Center. The only problem would be what to do with Horford, Monroe, and Millsap. But man, what a good problem that is to have.

Millsap/Horford duo is perfectly fine. Doesn't make much sense to go after Monroe. They need a SG or SF. Bledsoe would be a nice fit but he's more than likely not going anywhere. Trading for Afflalo could be an option too.

Small ball is the Hawks' strength this year but when Horford goes back they will be running things a lot through the post with Millsap around too. Monroe is a puzzling addition but I guess he would be the sixth man in this rotation as well? Just seems questionable because he isn't a true 5 either - Atlanta should stop trying to make their 4's play the 5.

I'm not aware what the hawk's starting lineup was like all season, but Horford, Milsap, and Monroe are all starters. So how do they plan on incorporating him? Does he come off the bench as Horford's backup or does Milsap become a sixth man while the other two hold up the 4 and 5?

The Hawks wanting Monroe is all good and well but do they really think the Pistons are going to let them have him for nothing. There will be other teams knocking at the door for Monroe so unless they are prepared to hand over a future 1st rounder or maybe take a cr@ppy contract good luck. If the Pistons don't plan on retaining him they will workout a sign & trade with team presenting the best offer (return).
