Forman: Studies Show Grit Is No. 1 Factor In Having Success

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 5, 2014 6:04 pm

Gar Forman gave Tom Thibodeau an indirect acknowledgement of his impact on the Chicago Bulls by telling reporters he had studies to support that "grit is the No. 1 factor in having success."

The studies involving grit are not from the NBA in which the quality of talent on a roster determines success.

The Bulls had a stronger than expected regular season following the season-ending injury to Derrick Rose, but were eliminated in five games by the Washington Wizards.

The Bulls are expected to pursue Carmelo Anthony, though that would likely mean using the amnesty provision on Carlos Boozer and eventually going into the luxury tax, which the franchise has been reluctant to do.

Think he meant grits. Heard that was Noah's pregame meal.

I mean obviously. It's all about how you handle adversity. A player's real character is shown when everything is going wrong around them. Think of Jordan, and his refuse to lose attitude.

Although I like the Bulls as a team and Thibs and Jo in particular, how much is Forman trying to prepare Bulls fans for a disappointing off season with soothing words to the effect that superior talent doesn't matter as much as true grit? Look, John Wayne ain't walking through the door at Berto Center

Thank you. Although it's an obvious general statement - no guts, no glory... This article doesn't mean much lol.

Reads to me like they are already pretty sure they're not going to get Carmelo Anthony, because he'll probably re-sign with the Knicks. I mean I think that's what this whole statement was really all about.
