Steve Kerr Prefers Knicks' Job But Won't Rule Out Discussions With Warriors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 6, 2014 7:29 pm

Steve Kerr appears to prefer to advance in his negotiations with Phil Jackson on becoming head coach of the New York Knicks, but he hasn't ruled out discussing the newly created opening with the Golden State Warriors.

Kerr has strong relationships with Warriors' owner Joe Lacob and president Rick Welts.

Kerr has no previous head coaching experience, but ran the Phoenix Suns' front office for several seasons.

Kerr resides in San Diego and has a daughter at Cal-Berkeley.

Seriously what is so special about Steve Kerr?

I've never seen someone who had literally no head coaching experience ever be sought after by numerous big market teams.

I would imagine it's negotiating tactics on Kerr's part.

Blunt translation of Steve Kerr's statement; Hey look Phil Jackson! Other teams DO want me! Please sign me now? K???

Can't speak for his coaching ability cos he's obviously never done it at this level.

But listening to his commentary and articles he writes, he has a sound knowledge of the game. He's obviously saying/doing the right things to get people interested.

he could be good, he could be bad, but listening to him commentate he is a smart basketball mind. IQ is worth a shot. not that mark jackson isn't intelligent, but he proved with some of his lineups and substitutions and offensive sets that he didn't have it all down.

and yet i heard on nbaTV that he prefers the west coast. the guy came out of socal and stayed in the southwest. i don't see the compatibility with the east coast other than phil, and that's a tenuous link with dolan still mulling about.

They don't want him. They want what he knows. Which is the triangle.
