Stoudemire Endorses Knicks' Possible Hire Of Kerr

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 10, 2014 2:05 am

Steve Kerr is reportedly still deciding whether he will accept the New York Knicks' head coaching job, but one of his former players with the Phoenix Suns, Amar'e Stoudemire, gave him a strong endorsement.

“I like Steve Kerr. For one, when he was a GM (in Phoenix, when Stoudemire was with the Suns) he was always preaching about winning and winning a title and that's something that I adored about him,” Stoudemire said. “And then also, secondly, he has a formula to win; he's been a winner in this league before. He wants to win. And he reminds me of somewhat of a player-coach that knows the game and knows what players go through as far as ups and downs throughout the year and that's going to help him.”

Stoudemire is confident he will be able to thrive under the leadership of Kerr and Phil Jackson.

“I think what he looks for in bigs are bigs that have multiple skills,” Stoudemire said. “You better shoot the ball from the outside, put the ball on the floor when need be, make great passes out of double-teams, sort of being a pressure-release guy. Versatile bigs are what I think he looks for and that's what I am.”

What do you know, in Amare's world Kerr values precisely his skill set as he sees it (not that its necessarily his skillset either).

Did anyone else find this absolutely hilarious ? Versatile big? He can't rebound or defend . He can barely score.

LOL. Amar'e Stoudemire talking like he is still relevant

I wonder if he is going to take his $23 million next year and retire or if he is going to "play through" his knee issues, pad his stats, and aim for one more big contract.

What option does Amare even have here lol. He has to welcome Kerr because he knows he will be Phil's right hand man. Not even sure why we have posted an article regarding his thoughts? Talk about a penny for your thoughts, Amare making as much as Kobe this year, but fans don't really care about his thoughts until he becomes relevant again (if it ever happens, he will be a 6th man at best)

Stoudemire needs to endorse knee braces not coaches. He is irrelevant.

He sucks at rebounding, passing (well he can pass but he hardly ever does it) and defending, but one thing he can do is score. Not sure why that aspect of his game is being knocked.

Doubt he'll ever be as relevant as he was in phoenix. He's 31 and has the knees of a 51 year old.

At one point in my life, I was convinced Saer Sene was going to be our teams savior.

At the end of the day, Phil will be coaching anyways. He just needs an apprentice.
