Terry Stotts, Blazers Near Deal On Contract Extension

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 15, 2014 7:19 pm

The Portland Trail Blazers and Terry Stotts are nearing agreement on a contract extension.

The Blazers hold an option on the third and final season of Stotts' contract for 14-15, but that will likely be torn up with a new deal.

Stotts helped transform the Blazers with a 21-game regular-season improvement (54-28) and a seven-game first-round playoff series victory over the Houston Rockets.

Stotts was an assistant coach on the Dallas Mavericks' 2011 championship team.

Why not give him an extension, he's a great coach.
Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.

"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."

This is a great move, now to improve/develop the incredibly weak bench they got.

Will he get more than the $25M/5 year that Kerr got?

Well he's got a hell of a lot more experience. Doesn't seniority get rewarded? We'll see lol

Rather odd though, I can't remember watching a best of 5 this year.

The NBA hasn't had a Best-of-5 series in the 1st round sine 2002.

Stotts coached the team really well in the 82 game season, though I think he could have done better in the 7 game series versus the Spurs. But at least it was a 7 game series and not just a 5 game series.
