Randy Wittman is nearing a three-year contract extension with the Washington Wizards, according to sources.

Wittman coached the Wizards to the second round of the postseason, where they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games.

Now i kind of wish they showed poorly in those playoff games. Ehh, at least the nation was introduced to "Bradley, 4th quarter, Beal with it". You just had to know those wins would get him an extension.

Wiz improved quite a bit this season; top eight defense, league avg. offense. In particular Wittman got the best out of Nene, Gortat & Beal in the playoffs. Ariza, in a contract season, had a career year (stellar play started post all-star 2013). Randy used Martel Webster effectively in Bench units, ran some nice weak side double staggers for him. Wall has had nothing but praise in the media for Wittman. No surprises here.

Only thing I take issue with is not playing Otto Porter more. There were plenty of opportunities to throw him in the game in lopsided losses or various 5 min stretches. Naturally, Porter came into the season injured and also behind 2 high dollar wings. Lack of PT is logical.
