Spurs To Keep Austin Daye Beyond Contract Guarantee Deadline

The San Antonio Spurs will keep forward Austin Daye beyond Tuesday’s contract guarantee deadline, a league source told RealGM.

Acquired in a trade in February, Daye, 26, averaged 4.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 14 games for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs faced deadline on Daye’s contract, and they could have released his partially guaranteed deal.

Daye has averaged 5.4 points and 2.7 rebounds over five NBA seasons. He was a first round pick of the Detroit Pistons in 2009.

He's nothing more than a extra body that's available to use 6 fouls. If he doesn't show anything with the Spurs after this upcoming season, I think NBA teams are pretty much done giving him chances.

The Spurs are set at PG, SG, and SF if they can resigned Patty Mills. They need to focus on resigning Boris Diaw and get a few more bigs this upcoming free agency.

This just seems...really nice on behalf of the Spurs lol. Who knows, they're probably trying to coach him up like they did Danny Green? He's shown very brief flashes of being a good pro. But if anyone can do it, its the Spurs.

this is very shocking, was sure he was a goner but maybe Pop sees something he likes in him. In that one game he actually got some burn he dropped 26 points mostly on some good shot selection.

Maybe in 1-2 years they'll have another Danny Green player.
