Cavs Make Trade Without Assurance From LeBron, Plan B Is Trevor Ariza

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 9, 2014 3:18 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers created cap space with their three-team trade involving Jarrett Jack.

The cap space is clearly earmarked for LeBron James, but they have received no assurances from him.

The Cavaliers' Plan B is to pursue Trevor Ariza with part of that space.

Ariza? C'mon, don't blow your cap space on a role player. If the Cavs whiff on LeBron, they should talk to NY about taking on Bargs so they can get Shumpert or maybe make an offer to Parsons.

If the cavs just basically traded 3 firsts and jarrett jack and don't sign lebron now, that should go down as the worst trade ever. They're so far under the cap they wouldn't of needed to trade all those picks and Jack to sign Ariza anyways. Lebron has to be going to back to Cleveland

That's an awful plan B.... unless they're signing him to a 1 year deal, Ariza only plays well in contract years.

Not all of that money will go to Ariza, I'm sure they'll be looking at others via trade/snt

How do you go from LeBron to Ariza as plan B?!?! Carmelo...Parsons...Hayward? Any of those "might" be better choices.

I would give a max contract to Trevor Ariza. What he brings to a team cannot be measured in points, rebounds, or assists. He is the consummate professional, and worth every penny of a $24M a year salary.

Dude are you serious? You would pay $24M to Ariza?? You gotta be high or something, Ariza is third option on a team, good defensive player, fast break and wing three pointer but not a max contract in a million years...

I think he's being sarcastic. Going by his screen name.

You are talking about a franchise whose Plan A in the draft was Benett

I really hope Ariza gets the max. Serious question, what's the point of signing Ariza when you have Wiggins at his position already?

Because their plan is to play Wiggins at the 2.

I don't see why they just don't resign Deng now that they have all this freed up money. (unless he said 100% he wouldn't come back.)

I'd pay parsons just as much as Ariza
