slightly more expensive than desired... but the term isnt horrible. so great signing! now raps can go through a whole season together in training camp and as a team. if they can add a productive vet to be a leader.. that doesnt command a lot of playing time, someone like a derek fisher.. that'd be great..

Great signing. Short term so easy to move. Masai is pretty nice with these contracts.

That's too much per year for Vasquez. He must've had another suitor that drove up the price.

Considering its a two year deal - that is not a bad contract. They needed Vasquez back - a guy that wants to play in Toronto and has a decent skillset (which Vasquez is more than decent) should always be retained!
I'm very happy to see the main components of the this team back together again. Give them another year to gel and improve on their chemistry and they will be dangerous.
De Colo is gonzo now too so much more important that Vasquez stays in Toronto.
Now if we could possibly get a vet SF (Deng would be nice but not sure how attainable), I think we have a legitimate shot at Eastern Conference Finals or minimum 2nd round - assuming everyone stays healthy.

James Johnson just got signed and is coming back to TO on 2-year, 5mill deal according to RealGM. There is the "veteran SF" presence - at least that is what Masai is banking on Johnson to be...

Grossly overpaid from a production standpoint. Maybe he's a glue-guy in the locker-room or something.

I think he's worth that amount to a team that needs a starting PG (or at least a 25-minute back-up), but the Raps need Lowry to dominate the ball for 34 minutes per night.Vasquez doesn't play well off the ball so it's unclear why they're giving him such serious coin to play 15 minutes per night. Either they're really worried about Lowry's health, or they didn't want to lose him for nothing even if they can't play him much.

if you watched the raps down the stretch you know theres alot of Vasquez at 1 and Lowry at 2 on offense then switched on defense, it works well.

If you don't get this deal, you didn't watch the Raptors play.

GV often played with Lowry in a 2 PG line up. They would switch off the ball depending on matchups and work really well together.

GV played much better off the ball than people on this board would have you believe.

Great deal, he could be a stater on any team, solid back-up for the Raptors.

Exactly. I'm a Vasquez fan. I wish the knicks had him. They're even stupider for bringing up him as a production failure. When given minutes, Vasquez I'd extremely productive from a pass first pg stand point. This is about where I had him, especially some of the other ridiculous deals out there

I love the level of comment from people who haven't watched this guy on this team. I say coaching decisions that limited GV's PT led to failure in the first round. Coach found winning formula and went away from it in subsequent games.
