The Heat are now crowded at point guard with Chalmers, Shabazz Napier and Norris Cole.

Wouldn't shock me if he got the same type of deal Brian Roberts just got. Something like 2 years 5 mil.

Looking forward to the actual numbers. He'll probably get at least 2-3 million, maybe 4-6 to show Miami cares about him.

Sound about right. His numbers should also go up this year with the ball in his hands more.

I don't know if I would call that crowded. You have Chalmers who is a low end starter. Cole who is a good 7th man, and Napier who has done nothing but stink up the summer league this year. That is crowded if you mean crowded with crap.

Chalmers was making about $4 million per year this past season. It's unlikely he is going to re-sign for less money than he was already getting. This isn't a guy at the end of his career who is just looking to stick in the league so will take the vet minimum

You might be right. Yet his numbers were so similar to his rookie year. He's not a bad PG but there isn't much upside to his game. He is what he is and players of his caliber get old quickly unless they find a system that suits there game.

Only if his playing time goes down, which is likely. His shooting % will likely go down without as many open looks but if he gets playing time his usage will go up considerably than when LBJ was running the offense.

Massive overpay for a barely-NBA-caliber player.

Why would a "top 5" PG accept such a lowball offer?

Based on his performance last year he is lucky to remain in this league.
